Aroma:

Classic old-school Northern Lights funk with a strong Afghan foundation. Expect a dense combination of earthy hash, pine, woody spice and pungent herbal notes. The stronger expressions can push considerably deeper into dank, musky and slightly acrid territory, with a heavy resinous odor that becomes increasingly pronounced as flowering progresses. Some phenotypes may show a sharper, almost chemical or fuel-like edge underneath the traditional pine-and-hash character, while others remain more earthy and incense-like.

Structure:

Predominantly indica in form, with a sturdy central frame, broad foliage and relatively compact internodal spacing. Plants generally remain manageable in height while producing thick, substantial branches capable of supporting dense flower clusters. Buds tend to develop with a tight, chunky structure and become heavily coated in resin as they mature. The overall appearance is classic old-school hash-plant: broad leaves, compact flowers, strong lateral branching and exceptionally heavy trichome production.

Overall:

A classic Afghan-dominant Northern Lights expression built around compact structure, rapid flower development and extreme resin production. The standout plants combine the traditional pine-and-earth Northern Lights character with a much heavier, darker Afghan funk—making the more pungent individuals particularly interesting for preservation work. This line of Northern light #5 has been preserved in my family in Kentucky since the fall of 1986
