Aroma:

Deep, earthy Afghan funk with a sharp pine-and-cedar backbone. The better expressions can become surprisingly pungent, carrying notes of damp earth, resin, garlic, stale breath, and a dirty, almost garbage-like funk beneath the traditional Northern Lights character. Some plants show a cleaner pine or tropical side, but the standout phenotypes can be considerably more acrid and offensive than the sweet Northern Lights profiles commonly associated with the name.

Structure:

A broad-leafed, predominantly Afghan plant with a compact, sturdy frame and relatively tight internodal spacing. Plants tend to flower quickly and build dense, heavily resin-coated flowers. The foliage is substantial and the overall structure has the classic squat, robust hash-plant appearance, although occasional individuals can stretch noticeably more than the typical expression. Resin production is exceptional, with reports of unusually heavy trichome coverage extending even onto the male flowers.

Overall:

A true old-school Afghan-dominant Northern Lights expression—fast, resinous, broad-leafed and capable of producing a deep, pungent funk rather than simply the sweet/pine profile often associated with modern Northern. This line of Northern lights has been preserved by my family here in Kentucky since the fall of 1986. Only reproduced in open pollinations.
